NDF - Financing for climate change and development projects

2016 results summary report and newsletter published

Two new NDF publications are now available online, including recent institutional and operational highlights.

During 2016, nine NDF-backed climate-related projects reached completion. Brief summaries of the results of these projects are presented in a results summary report, which also summarises NDF and NCF’s operational highlights of last year.

The new report is the first such report to be produced since the introduction of NDF’s new Results-based Management Framework. The framework was introduced in November 2016 and is designed to help NDF report on results more systematically.

“It’s very important for NDF to make sure that the activities we finance are relevant for the target countries and have the desired impacts,” says NDF’s Deputy Managing Director Leena Klossner. “The key to this process is to focus on results on the ground by setting realistic, monitorable, time-bound and preferably quantitative targets, together with related progress indicators.”

Also available is a new issue of Climate in Focus, NDF’s printed newsletter. The new issue presents NDF’s first ever mixed-finance project and NDF’s new results framework and also introduces the successful projects from Nordic Climate Facility's most recent call for proposals.

The newsletter also contains articles about new and ongoing NDF projects. Read for instance about how a project in East Africa is applying Icelandic expertise to tap into geothermal energy and how an NCF project in Bangladesh is bringing together youngsters in Dhaka’s slum communities with Nordic experts in order to fight climate change.
