NDF participates in the high-level Global Green Growth Forum 2016 focusing on the implementation of the SDGs and the Paris Agreement

Copenhagen 6 June 2016. Nordic Development Fund’s (NDF) Managing Director Pasi Hellman presented earlier today NDF experiences with resilient infrastructure investments as part of a partnership session on Sustainable Infrastructure. The session included representatives from International Finance Corporation (IFC), Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), and Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), who discussed the necessity of developing sustainable infrastructure standards to address SDG 9 on resilient infrastructure.

The Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) 2016 takes place Monday and Tuesday 6-7 June in Copenhagen and brings together 250 top-level government representatives, business leaders, investors and international organisations to discuss how to effectively realise the potential for long-term global, inclusive green growth.

Last year saw the agreement on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the conclusion of the landmark Climate Agreement in Paris. To follow-up on these international agreements the 3GF 2016 is themed: A Call to Action: Enabling Solutions at Speed and Scale. The aim of the 3GF Summit is to provide a forum to accompany and accelerate delivery of a sub-set of SDGs through transformational public-private partnerships. The 3GF2016 focuses on the SDGs that best align with green growth drivers, e.g. on cities, energy, forests, water, land, sustainable production and consumption, food and hunger, finance.

3GF was initiated by the Danish Government in 2011 in collaboration with the Republic of Korea and Mexico. In 2012 China, Kenya and Qatar joined the partnership, and in 2014 Ethiopia became the 7th partner. Other partners of 3GF include: ABB, Alstom, Bidco Group & Kenya Private Sector Alliance and East African Business Council, Danfoss, Hyundai Motors, McKinsey & Company, Novozymes, Samsung, Siemens, Vestas, OECD, the International Energy Agency (IEA), UN Global Compact and International Finance Corporation (IFC), Climate Policy Initiative, Global Green Growth Institute, Inter-American Development Bank and World Resources Institute.
