NDF co-chaired a workshop on Mainstreaming Climate Change into development planning in Lao PDR together with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Lao PDR and the Asian Development Bank.

The workshop, which was arranged on 1 August in Vientiane, brought together a large group of government officials and development partners to discuss the results and lessons learned from the ongoing NDF-ADB co-funded technical assistance program called Capacity Enhancement for Coping with Climate Change.  The workshop provided a good opportunity for sharing views on how the climate change agenda could be strengthened in the future and integrated in the national planning processes in the light of the findings from the on-going  technical assistance program.

Participants actively discussed further work on assessing the climate vulnerabilities of the country, as well as ways to intensify awareness raising on climate change issues. Discussions focused also on the institutional structures of climate change related actions in Laos and on the replication of successful pilot projects. The TA programme is scheduled to be finalised by mid-2015.
