CTCN and EE-hub gave presentations of their activities

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a pioneering regional technical assistance initiative, with finance from the Nordic Development Fund (NDF), to help Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), and Viet Nam respond to climate-induced health threats.

On 6 May 2015, the Board of Directors approved additional financing of EUR 4 million for the Senegal Flood Risk Management (PROGREP) project

NDF visits the Nicaragua biogas market development programme

NDF is on a supervision mission to Central America and visited the NGO SNV in Managua to discuss progress on the biogas programme. The programme aims to introduce and develop a commercially viable biogas market in Nicaragua.

The bulk of climate finance is still targeted at mitigation whereas more focus on adaptation is called upon especially by the developing countries. The needs for climate finance are increasing and the public funding is not enough.

Five further agreements have been signed for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects under the Nordic Climate Facility’s fourth call for proposals (NCF4) on inclusive green growth.

The agreements are the second batch of 12 approved projects that have been selected for funding under NCF4. Three agreements were signed in late 2014.

Experts meet to discuss the findings of the project on "Enhancing the Climate Resilience of Africa Infrastructure" in Addis Ababa on 2-3 April 2015

The technical meeting takes place at the UN Conference Centre in Addis Ababa and is organised by the African Union Commission (AUC), the African Climate Policy Center (ACPC) of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the World Bank.

Key stakeholders reviewed the Nordic Partnership Initiative Pilot Progamme for Supporting Up-scaled Climate Change Mitigation Action in Vietnam’s Cement Sector, also called the Cement NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action) project, in March 2015.

A Nordic delegation visited Vietnam in March 2015 to review progress of the Nordic Partnership Initiative Pilot Programme for Supporting Up-scaled Climate Change Mitigation Action in Vietnam’s Cement Sector.

NDF has approved a EUR 2.25 million grant for climate resilient rural water supply and sanitation in Zambia

NDF and the African Development Bank will co-finance the second phase of the National Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme in Western Province, Zambia.
