EUR 0.5 Million
Project Period: 2014-2017
Partner Agency: World Bank

Objectives
The project is an important joint NDF - World Bank initiative. The overall objective of the project is to develop an approach for World Bank’s engagement on climate change and health that corresponds with its comparative advantage as a global institution - which includes analytical resources, financing operational work, and convening power.

Four activities are envisaged to be undertaken as part of this proposal and they will be undertaken with a view to build on the Bank’s comparative advantage and dove tail with its support to client countries, while leveraging the strengths of key partners. The activities are:

1. Assessment of regional risks and opportunities
2. Country level diagnostics (Mozambique)
3. Scoping sector specific guidance
4. Developing partnerships to deliver results

For the first time addressing climate change and health on policy level was proposed for NDF’s final consideration. The project was launched during the first-ever Climate and Health summit convened by World Health Organization (WHO) on 27-29 August 2014, at which Ministries of Health and a diverse range of public and private stakeholders were represented including the World Bank and NDF.

Financing
Total cost is estimated at 646,000 EUR, of which NDF will provide 500,000 EUR from the Small Grants Facility. The World Bank contribution is estimated at 135,000 EUR and Mozambique’s contribution is estimated at 11,000 EUR.
