Objectives

The overall objectives of the World Bank financed project are: (i) to improve effective road management and maintenance, both at national level and in urban areas; and (ii) to improve public urban transport in the Greater Dakar Area (GDA). The objective of the proposed NDF adaptation component is to develop the capacity of relevant stakeholders in Senegal to climate-proof road infrastructure planning, design and maintenance. The STUMP project has three components:

Component 1: Support to Inter-urban Road Infrastructure Development;
Component 2: Capacity building for the Development of Public Transport Services in the GDA; and
Component 3: Support to implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

The proposed NDF project is part of Component 1 of STUMP and will enhance the STUMP project through three planned outcomes:

  • Outcome 1: Increased capacity of transport experts to integrate climate change adaptation into their activities;
  • Outcome 2: Improved information base for decision making related to climate-proofing roads; and
  • Outcome 3: Experience is developed through Pilot Projects

Financing

Total cost EUR 4.0 million (USD 5.5 million). The total World Bank project budget is USD 55.0 million (EUR 40.4 million).
