Climate Adaptation Summit - accelerating climate adaptation and resilience ambitions

25.01.2021

NDF Managing Director, Karin Isaksson, joins the inaugural Ministerial Dialogue on Adaptation Action at the Climate Adaptation Summit

Climate finance has reached record levels, but action still falls far short of what is needed. This is particularly true with regard to adaptation financing. A dramatic step-change in climate finance is necessary to achieve the global commitments set forth in the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) 2021 on 25-26 January, hosted by the Netherlands convenes global leaders and local stakeholders. The Summit will launch an Adaptation Action Agenda to mobilise efforts that spur resilience across people and communities, economies and for the environment, for a decade of transformational impact.

The Ministerial Dialogue, co-hosted by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), has one overarching aim: sustained global leadership cooperation to accelerate adaptation at speed and scale. The high-level event on 25 January 2021 at 20.00-22.00 CET, features Ban Ki-moon, 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations and Co-Chair of the GCA and CAS 2021, John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate of the United States of America, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank, and many others.

NDF brings to the table the Nordic countries’ priorities in assisting countries with climate change and development challenges. NDF’s Strategy 2025 entails increased focus on adaptation financing particularly in Africa alongside with the strong Nordic values of human rights, democracy and gender equality in support for finding fair and sustainable solutions.

“Our strategy relies firmly on strategic partnerships with institutions that can multiply the development impact together with NDF. Our emerging collaboration with the Global Center on Adaptation is a primary example of such partnerships. We are committed to foster and reinforce these partnerships for creating a larger impact”, says Karin Isaksson.

Registration is required to participate. Register here to join the event remotely.

It is also possible to participate through CAS TV, the dedicated YouTube channel for the event.
